Freedom of expression is a fundamental right that allows us to share our ideas, opinions, and feelings without fear of retaliation. Thanks to this right, we live in a society where dialogue, diversity of thought, and truth can flourish.

Each year, World Press Freedom Day is celebrated as a reminder of the importance of protecting this right and honoring those who courageously exercise it—especially journalists who work hard to keep us informed.
In celebration of this special day, a group of journalists and friends gathered today at Toronto City Hall to honor freedom of expression. This gathering was an opportunity to reflect on the challenges faced by media professionals around the world and to reaffirm their commitment to truth and justice.
